Why one wash isn't enough
Modern sunscreen and long-wear makeup are designed to stay on your skin all day – water and a regular foam won't dissolve them. Oil will. Hence the two-step system: an oil cleanser first to lift everything oil-soluble, then a gentle foam for what's left.
Step 1. Dry hands, dry skin – 40 seconds
The biggest mistake is applying a cleansing oil to damp skin: it emulsifies too early and never gets to dissolve anything. Take 2–3 pumps into dry palms and massage your dry face in circles – about 10 seconds per zone: forehead, cheeks, nose, chin.
Step 2. Emulsify – 10 seconds
Add a little warm water on top of the oil. It will turn milky white – that emulsion is what releases everything the oil has dissolved. Massage a few seconds more.
Step 3. Rinse – 10 seconds
Rinse thoroughly with warm (not hot) water. If your skin is oily or you wore heavy makeup, follow with a gentle foam. Dry skin doesn't always need the second step – aim for clean without tightness.
How often
Every evening, makeup or not – sunscreen and city air demand it. In the morning, water or a light foam is enough.
